Countach
Cars at the Capital is an annual celebration of America’s automotive heritage in the nation’s capital. Each year we showcase the newest inductees of the National Historic Vehicle Register in a beautifully illuminated glass display case, on the Mall, for the public to learn about and interact with cars that have impacted history. Week 4: 1979 Lamborghini Countach LP400 S from The Cannonball Run This Countach was made famous in the 1981 film "The Cannonball Run" – The film became many budding car lovers’ first experience seeing a Lamborghini Countach. It largely introduced the Countach to the American public, helped save the struggling Italian manufacturer from failure, and made the Countach the poster car of the '80s.
